bmonitor for SteamOS

Your handheld becomes
the camera monitor.

bmonitor for SteamOS shows and controls Blackmagic Camera on your iPhone over Wi‑Fi. You open it from the Steam library like a game and adjust everything with the controller buttons.

One button,
one setting.

Each button opens one control directly. The bar under the video shows, next to each value, the button that opens it. Hold LT and the whole map appears over the video.

In front of the camera
and behind it.

Propped next to the tripod, it's the monitor you read from across the room. In your hands, between takes, it's the remote.

The script comes
from your phone.

Game mode has nowhere to paste text. The handheld shows an address and a QR code, you paste the script on your phone or Mac, and it shows up next to the video.

With the script open, the video moves to the left and nothing covers it. Drawn interface; illustrative image.
  1. Open More › Script from your phone

The Menu button opens More. The handheld shows its address on your home network and a QR code.

  2. Point your phone at the QR code

On your phone or Mac, on the same Wi‑Fi, the page opens in the browser.

  3. Paste and send

The script shows up on the handheld right away. View shows and hides it, and the left stick scrolls the text.

The same delay
as the Mac.

In Dante's test on October 23, 2026, with the same iPhone, the handheld ran 8 ms behind the Mac app, less than the measurement's margin.

Glass to glass is the time between a clock in front of the camera and its image on the screen. On the handheld, median of 19 readings, from 235 to 360 ms. About 200 ms of it happens inside the iPhone, before the video leaves over Wi‑Fi.

What we know so far.

When can I download it?
There's no date yet. The app is in testing on Dante's Legion Go S and will ship as a Flatpak, through a channel that isn't decided yet. News goes out on bmonitor's GitHub.
Does it work on the Steam Deck or another handheld?
The only device tested is the Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOS. Another SteamOS handheld might work, but nobody has tested one yet.
What do I need?
A Legion Go S with SteamOS, an iPhone with Blackmagic Camera (free), and both on the same Wi‑Fi. The first time, the handheld looks for the iPhone on the network. If it can't find it, you type the IP, and it remembers the last one.
What does it change on the iPhone?
To send video to the handheld, the app switches Blackmagic Camera's live stream platform. When you quit, it puts the original back, including when you close it from the Steam menu.
What's left out?
Following your speech in the script, the Mac's webcam, several cameras at once, and recording on the handheld. Recording stays on the iPhone, as on the Mac.

On a Mac, you can
use it today.
